today google pixel4 officially announced

 today Google officially announced itspixel4
 had to be one of the most leaked
smartphones of the year but there were a
few software tricks and features that we
didn't know all the information and so
we'll get into some of that in just a
minute the pixel 4 comes in two sizes
the regular 4 and the 4 XL and for most
of this video I spent time with the XL
version on the back of the phone I
really enjoyed the frosted glass just
like what you would see on the new
iPhones and it really does feel great
and it looks really nice especially this
orange color that Google released
alongside the standard white and black
models from last year Google ditched the
notch this year and went back to the
old-school top and bottom bezels which
to me is totally fine the 6.3 inch OLED
looks really good in person but it's not
super bright which was an issue that I
had with last year's pixel 3 the
lighting in this room does not do it any
favors as it's on full brightness but it
still looks very dim on camera it's
really not this bad in person though one
thing I'm very happy about is the
inclusion of 90 Hertz for the display
giving it that awesome buttery smooth
effect when navigating throughout the
operating system the front-facing camera
system is actually one 8 megapixel
wide-angle camera and a radar based
time-of-flight 3d camera even though
there is no not these cameras help lead
to Google's new way of unlocking your
device and authenticating payments or
passwords with facial recognition I'm
not entirely sure how this will stack up
to Apple's face ID but it is the first
Android phone that I've use that offers
facial recognition
your main source of biometric
authentication since there is no
hardware fingerprint sensor anywhere on
this device we tested this feature out a
bit and for the most part it worked
really well and was as fast maybe just a
little bit slower than face ID but
overall it worked pretty well until
about the end when it started to
struggle recognizing our face and so I'm
just gonna chalk that up to being a
floor unit and I will test this out a
little bit more in depth with our actual
review in it before I get my final
thoughts on that
the time-of-flight sensor also leads us
to a new feature this year that will
allow users to skip through tracks or
wave off alarms with a simple wave of
your hand this is pretty similar to air
gestures that LG introduced a few months
back in the LGG 8 and during our limited
use it was pretty hit or miss but of
course it was also a floor unit so we
will do some more testing soon finally
the main Hardware change and what
everyone was looking forward to on a
pixel device which is the camera or
shall I say cameras this year Google
went with a two lens setup on the back
featuring a 12 point two megapixel
wide-angle lens and a 16 megapixel
telephoto lens the company decided to
not go with an ultra wide-angle lens
which is a bit interesting and something
that a lot of its competitors have been
including in their 2019 flagships of
course what makes a pixel camera so good
is it's fantastic software to go with it
Google's computational photography is
fantastic and this year we have a few
new features like live hdr+
which shows how an HDR plus photo will
look in real time and you can also
adjust exposure via two new sliders for
highlights or shadows there's a new and
improved portrait mode that utilizes the
dual lenses improved night mode and a
new as trophotography mode for those who
love to snap a bunch of pictures of the
stars in the night sky and of course we
weren't able to really test that out
with these units but we do have our own
review unit and we will have a full
camera comparison between the pixel 4
and iPhone 11 Pro very soon so be sure
